Case Number 1 Overview
Johnny Smith, age 6 weeks, was brought into the clinic for routine check-up. He presents with no weight gain since his check up at age 2 weeks. You as the nurse interview his mother regarding this assessment. His mother verbalized," I feed him, but it seems that he does not eat much. He sleeps 4-5 hours between feedings." You also observed that his mother held him in her arms without making trunk-to-trunk contact. As the assessment is made, you noted that Mrs. Smith never looks at Johnny and never speaks to him as any other mothers do. She even shared to you, "We planned for this baby, but I never realized how much work an infant could be. He keeps me up almost 24/7. It's so tiring and frustrating not knowing what he wants when starts to cry. My mother has told me that I'm not a good mother because Johnny is not gaining weight as he should. I never got the chance to call a nurse and raise my concern because I was afraid that the nurse will also think of me as a "bad mother”.

The Theorist and the Theory applied

Johnny Smith is a 6 weeks old child who is not showing any progress to his health prior to his last check-up. The nurse was able to assess that his mother is not showing any sign of affection toward him and the mother also confessed that she had a hard time in taking care of his child because she didn’t know that being a mother is really hard and challenging. This case is a best example of Dorothy E. Johnson’s Behavioral System Model because it showed changes in behavioral pattern that causes a negative effect to her child. The mother is experiencing a stressor that makes her difficult to adjust to the new environment that she is entering, which is the motherhood. She wasn’t able to adapt well that causes tension in which her equilibrium state is being disturbs.

Evidence of Behavioral System Imbalance or Threat of Loss of Order

Through interviewing the mother, it was made possible to grasp all of the information needed to determine why Johnny’s health didn’t show any improvement. It shows that there is really a behavioral system imbalance or threat of loss of order happening in Johnny Smith’s mother. In a such a way that the mother never make a trunk – to – trunk contact with Johnny which is very important for the baby because through this, the baby will able to feel the love and security that every baby needs.  The mother never look and speak to the baby which is one of the needs that baby should attain because through this, the baby can slowly develop his understanding and he can feel that he is really important. For her, her duty as a mom is tiring and frustrating because she don’t know what the baby wants when he starts to cry. These emotions are acceptable because every mother feel it too but Johnny’s mother is different because she wasn’t able to cope – up and adjust to be a mother instead she let every emotions eat her in a way that she didn’t try to exert effort in taking care of her child.

Insights in the theory that can be related to the patient’s condition

The attachment – affiliative subsystem of the patient is not maintained because of the stressor that she had that results to a tension which makes her state of equilibrium be disturbed. She wasn’t able to attain her responsibility to provide the survival and security of her baby because she won’t show any signs of intimacy towards to her baby that results to a weak social bond between them. So as a nurse, to regain the loss stability of Johnny’s mother, he or she must use the functional requirement and sustenal imperatives – nurturance so that he or she can help the mother by encouraging her to change and develop her ways to interact with the baby for the improvement of the wellness of her baby. Actively doing the new ways in interacting with the baby will result to a dynamic behavioral system wherein their relationship will be preserve and integrated to each other. Having a positive feedback in the new behavior of the mother means she was able to learned, experienced, and matured. She can now also tolerate the stressors that will make her equilibrium to be back in shaped and functional.

Case Number 2 Overview
Patient AB, 32-year-old female, was admitted to the ER after having a severe burn injury on both hands due to a factory accident related to operating a high-pressure steam engine. The burn covered the entire surface of her both hands. Upon admission, she was subject to cleaning and treatment of the affected parts. Skin grafting was to be considered after further treatments. During admission, the patient said that she was anxious on the operation that will done to her. Aside from being uncomfortable upon seeing needles and other medical equipment, she also gets anxious on the mere thought of undergoing an operation. The nurse remains by her side listening; thus, patient AB further expressed her desire to avoid medical treatment; however, she remembered that she has a family with whom she would still like to live with. This made her change her decision and go for the surgical procedure.

The Theorist and the Theory applied

Patient AB experienced a factory accident so he or she was admitted to hospital because the severe burn on both of his or her hands. The patient is anxious on the operation that will perform to her because he or she is not comfortable in medical equipment that will be use to her and he or she is nervous just by hearing the word operation. So the nurse that was assigned to him or her, remained to his or her side and listened to all of his or her uncertainties. In this case, the Human Becoming Theory of Rosemarie Rizzo Parse was used. This theory is all about the capacity of the nurse to know the perspective of the patient that makes the nurse to be with the patient in attaining his or her stability.

Experience of the nurse guided by the theory

According to Parse, nursing is a science and art where the science is the abstract knowledge and art is the nursing practice. In this situation, the nurse showed the science in a way that he or she know what to do for those patients who are having uncertain thoughts and he or she also showed the arts through applying the perceived knowledge learned throughout his or her entire studying and experiences. The action that the nurse applied is the Human Becoming Theory in which he or she listened the perspective of Patient AB regarding to the operation.  Through the listening skills of the nurse, the patient can actually feel his or her true presence that makes the patient to trust the nurse which is very helpful to promote Patient AB’s health and life.

Ways how the nurse make the client feel her true presence

This situation, where the client don’t know what to do anymore because of his or her doubts on what will happen in the operation, is very crucial to the nurse so they always make sure that they are available anytime to address their patient’s uncertainty. The nurse make the client feel her true presence by staying at her side when the client thoughts and emotions are overflowing because of his or her negative ideas about the upcoming operation. The nurse connects with the client by listening and respecting to all of his or her views regarding how uncomfortable him or her in hospital procedures and equipment. When the nurse is practicing this kind of relationship to the client or by doing any means in making the client feel their true presence, the patient can get new understanding in illuminating meaning, shifting rhythms, and inspiring transcending.

Case Number 3 Overview
You are a company nurse. The company where you work with administer routine check-ups to its employees on an annual basis. One of the company's employee is Mr. Santiago. Mr. Santiago is 26 years old, married, and the father of two preschool-age (3-5 years old) children. His wife is 6 months pregnant for their 3rd child. Mr. Santiago is a high school graduate. He works 8 hours a day as a skilled laborer in a factory owned by the company and holds a second job washing dishes at a restaurant for an additional 8 hours to meet family expenses. Your assessment includes: Respiration rate of 18, regular, no shortness of breath observed; temperature 37 °C; height is 5 ft, 10 inches, weight 164 lbs, skin is good and hydrated; he wears clothes to match weather conditions.

During the interview Mr. Santiago states “I smoke 2 packs of cigarettes per day. I usually experience dry cough in the morning, but it does not persist for the rest of the day. My usual meal will include rice meal, fruit, potato chips for lunch. I skip breakfast since I'm usually in the hurry to go to work. I also buy and drink soft drinks most of the time. For supper, I take from the restaurant where I work as a dishwater. I have no problems related to elimination. I also have no problems with mobility, but I have pain in both legs after 8 hours of washing dishes. For sleep, I usually sleep for 5 to 6 hours per night, but I still feel tired most of the time. I observe proper hygiene daily. My family and I attend a Baptist church every other Sunday. "I'm really happy with both of my jobs but it seems that it's eating all my time. That I haven't got any time left for my family. I wish I could have a time to spend with them as well as time to pursue a college education."

Basic needs that needs to addressed using Henderson’s Theory

Henderson formulated the 14 basic human needs that is based in nursing care. In this theory, some of the basic needs where actually met by an employee of a certain company named Mr. Santiago. He can eliminate all of his body waste properly to avoid internal damage. He manage to wear a suitable clothes that will match the weather conditions. He maintain the normal body temperature that is needed for the normal body functioning. He keep his body clean and well-groomed by observing proper hygiene daily that results of him having a good skin. He fearlessly communicate his emotions, opinions, fears, and needs that results of him having a light feeling because he manage to pour out his problems to the nurse. He keeps his faithfulness intact with God that makes him to have a positive outlook in life. He works so he can feel the sense of accomplishment that he can actually sustain the needs of his family.

It can be seen here, that only seven human needs where attained by Mr. Santiago and that means that there are still seven remaining that needed to be addressed. First, is having normal breathing. He having a normal respiration rate during this assessment can actually change over time because of fact that he smoke two packs of cigarettes per day. Small changes is slowly appearing to his stability and that is his dry cough every morning. Though it is a minor change, it can still gradually increase so it is important to advise him to lessen or better yet to stop smoking so that his condition will not be complicated. Second, eating and drinking adequately. He can’t eat and drink properly because of the needed attention to his work. He cannot eat his breakfast anymore because he is always in hurry for work which is not good for his health. The nurse should encourage the patient to manage his time correctly in order for him to eat his breakfast everyday especially that breakfast is known as important meal because it can replenish his glucose level and it can provide him some nutrients that will sustain his energy level throughout the day. He also mentioned that he always drink soft drink most of the time and this is a bad habit. The nurse should educate him that excessively intake of this can make him a diabetic person and it is more advisable to drink water in order maintain the balance of his body fluids that will help to function the system of his body. Third and fourth, moving and maintaining desirable postures and sleeping and resting, respectively. He may not be experiencing some mobility problems but the fact that he feels pain in both of his legs after eight hours of washing dishes can actually be the cause of him being immovable. He cannot achieve the eight hours of sleeping because of the two jobs that he is doing. Because of his wanting to sustain the needs of his family, he wasn’t able to think for himself. He only work and works to the point that he forgot to rest even for a while. The nurse should counsel him that sleeping is important and ask him to add to his goal list the eight hours of sleeping because a complete sleep will make him healthier and livelier. The nurse should also recommend him that if he feels pain in his leg or in any other parts of his body, he should stop and take some rest because resting doesn’t mean slacking off, it means you are only recharging for the upcoming tasks that needed to be accomplished. Fifth, avoid dangers in the environment and avoid injuring others. Sad to say, Mr. Santiago is inflicting danger to the environment and injury to others because he is a smoker. Smoking is dangerous to the environment because of the toxic chemicals it produces that can actually worsen the pollution that is now happening around the world. It is also dangerous not only to his health but also to the health of others because whoever inhaled this, can increased the risk of lung cancer. The nurse should inform him about the detrimental effects that it can bring to the environment and health so that he can control his self in using this product. Sixth, play or participate in various forms of recreation. Mr. Santiago doesn’t have any time left for his family because his jobs took mostly of his time. The nurse should give an ideas to Mr. Santiago how can he can still have time for his family despite of having a hectic schedule. Like, a simple and complete family dinner, helping his children to their homeworks, watching their favorite television series together, and others. Spending time with the family doesn’t actually mean spending the whole day outside with them because what is more important here is the interaction that is continuously happening between them that symbolizes that their family relationship is strong and healthy. Lastly, learn, discover, or satisfy the curiosity that leads to normal development and health, and use the available health facilities. Mr. Santiago is only a high graduate so it is assumed that some things are not yet familiar to him. The nurse, should educate him more, about proper attaining of basic needs of a human and the health care facilities that are available to address his needs, in order for him to learn and discover more and to satisfy the questions that are clouding in his mind for the normal development of a healthy lifestyle.

Relate and apply the theory and key concepts

Virginia Henderson’s Need Theory is about the importance in increasing the patient’s independence in maintaining their stability as rapidly as possible and also to be able to attain the fourteen basic needs of human in order to progress even after being hospitalized. In the situation given, it was seen that Mr. Santiago need a help of a nurse because he cannot achieve some of the basic human needs like physiological, psychological, and sociological functioning. He need the nurse to guide, support, and educate him to all of the things that he need to do and know so that he can be independent enough to assist his own self for his health development.

There are three levels of nurse – patient relationship in which the nurse acts as substitute, helper, and partner to the patient. In this case, the nurse is a substitute to Mr. Santiago in a way that he or she assessed him by getting all of his vital signs and checking, in behalf of Mr. Santiago, if he was able to meet the standard basic human needs. The ability to define the needs of the client is the function of nursing. The nurse is a helper to him in such a way that he or she manage to get all of the relevant information about him and using this information so that the nurse can now formulate ways in addressing the human needs that he or she thinks lacks to him. The nurse is also a partner to Mr. Santiago because he or she helps him in achieving the living independently by assisting and supporting in the process of meeting all of the basic human needs that a person should have in order gain his stability which is known as the nursing care that the nurse need to apply to their patients.

Case Number 1 Overview

Mr. Dela Cruz, a 45 year old, businessman, experienced severe chest pain following a meeting. In addition to the pain, he also experienced shortness of breath, increased heart rate and profuse sweating. Upon admission to the hospital, it was found out that he had a mild heart attack. Further investigation revealed that he had been having episodes of chest pain for the past 2 months but never took notice of it.

The Theorist and the Theory applied

A businessman named Mr. Dela Cruz experienced severe chest pain following a meeting. He was admitted in the hospital and it was found out that he is having episodes of chest pain for the past two months but never took notice of it. In this case the theory used is Betty Neuman’s System Model because it states here how was the relationship of Mr. Dela Cruz to stress and how he reacts on it.

Nursing problems arise

Nursing problems like the ineffective communication and the improper understanding on the role of social problems arise in this case. The nurse and the client did not achieve the effective verbal communication because there are things that the client misinterpret regarding on how to properly handle the situation. Mr. Dela Cruz is lacking a health education because he didn’t know what to do regarding his case so he just choose to ignore his health problems. The nurse also failed to tell the client that social problems can be the cause of illness. In this situation, Mr. Dela Cruz is continuously giving all of his strength to work just to cope up with the social problems that arise in his surroundings. Little did he know, that too much indulgent to work can also lead to instability so he must be advice that there should be always a work-life balance to achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Relate and apply the theory and key concepts

Neuman System Model views Mr. Dela Cruz as an open system that responds to stressors in the environment. The stressors is the one that can potentially disrupt the systems stability that can lead to positive or negative outcome. The stressors that the businessman is experiencing is the extrapersonal stressors, which occurs outside the individual, due to his work and it can be seen that this stressors gave a negative outcome to his stability.
The flexible line of defense is the one that acts as a protective buffer for preventing the stressors to affect the wellness of the normal line of defense. In this case, Mr. Dela Cruz flexible line of defense is alarmed because of the chest pain that he is experiencing and eventually, he cannot cope up anymore because he didn’t take notice to it for the past two months. The normal line of defense is the adaptation level of health that changes over time in response to coping. Mr. Dela Cruz normal line of defense is now altered that results to his shortness of breathing, heart rate increasing, and profuse sweating. The lines of resistance is the one that is protecting the basic structure that consists the individual’s basic survival factors. It can be activated once the stressors penetrates the normal line of defense. In this case, the basic structure, core, or the energy resources that the line of resistance is protecting is now affected because of the mild heart attack that Mr. Dela Cruz experienced that results of him being admitted in the hospital.
Intervention must be done in this case and Neuman’s provides a nursing action that can help Mr. Dela Cruz retain, attain, or maintain his stability. The primary prevention strengthens the flexible line of protection by reducing the encounter of the stressor and its reaction. Since the stressor is now identified, the nurse can now help Mr. Dela Cruz by having health education and advise to change his lifestyle so that he can prevent the upcoming onset of stress and can also reduce the risk factors brought by the stressors. Secondary prevention strengthens the normal line of resistance of Mr. Dela Cruz by treating the underlying cause of the illness that he is experiencing right now. Tertiary prevention strengthens Mr. Dela Cruz lines of resistance by maintaining his wellness through enhancing and preserving his energy for readpatation of his wellness. If all of these prevention works, Mr. Dela Cruz reconstitution will be achieve because it symbolizes that he can now return to his system of stability.

Case Number 2 Overview

A home care nurse visits an elderly client who lives alone and is restricted to bed because of pain in his joints due to osteoarthritis. During conversation, the nurse finds that the client feels sad and inadequate due to his disability.

The Theorist and the Theory applied

An elderly client is restricted to bed for having an osteoarthritis. For being alone in his house, he feels sad because he thinks that he is not good enough to address his own needs due to his disability. With this kind of case, the theory applied is the Self – Care Deficit Theory of Dorothea Orem. It clearly states here, that the client is not capable to take care his own self because of the limited actions that he can only do. He don’t have someone that will take care of him when in times of need that’s why he feels so down because of his perception that he is not adequate enough in supplying his own continuous effective self-care.

Process on how the nurse identify the specific needs of the client

All clients have different needs because they all have different capabilities that they can do for their own self. In this case, the nurse can identify the specific needs of the client by assessing the level of activity that the client can do for himself. The nurse can use the Eight Universal Self-Care Requisite that are known as goals that needs to meet in dependent care. The first three is the maintenance of a sufficient intake of air, food, and water. The nurse should make sure if the client is or not properly ventilated in order to help him to have a cozy environment that will help him to cope up for his current condition. Since the client doesn’t have the capability to make his own food, the nurse should know if he is eating a right kind and amount of food in order to help him maintain a well-balanced meal to keep the body functioning. The nurse should know if the client has a supply of clean water because if not, the nurse can make a way in getting him because a plenty supply of clean water means having a healthy body and also it can help to avoid foreign diseases. Fourth, is the elimination and excrements processes. Being bed-ridden for a long time can lead to constipation, so the nurse task is to ask the client if he is experiencing this problem because if he did, the nurse can make a solution in helping him to eliminate all of his body waste because if this is not treated it can cause internal damage to his body. Fifth, is the maintenance of balance between activity and rest. Strenuous activities is cannot be met by the client because he is old enough and plus the fact that he is bed ridden, but doing nothing can lead to loneliness. As a nurse, he or she should ask the client if there is something that he wants to do to keep him alive, alert, awake, and enthusiastic so that he can still feel that there’s still activity that he is capable to do. Sleeping and resting is a bit challenging to the client because of the continuous pain that he is experiencing. So the nurse should know if there is something that the client is specifically doing in addressing the pain and ask if its effective or not because if not the nurse can make a pain management plan that will help him to cope up the pain and also providing an adequate medication to lessen the burden. Sixth, is the maintenance of the balance between solitude and social interaction. Since he cannot go up and go outside to interact with others, being solitude is greater than being in a group. With this, the nurse should observe the client if there is a problem on the way how he interacts so that the nurse can take action right away in order to help the client not to feel that he is completely isolated in the outside world. Seventh, is the prevention of hazards to human life, human functioning, and human well-being. The nurse should observe the client’s surrounding if there is something that will potentially harm the client’s life and also ask if there is something that is bothering him so that the nurse can come up to solution for his safety. Lastly, is the promotion of human functioning and development within social groups in accordance to human potential and desire to be normal. In this case, it clearly shows that the client is not completely cope-up because of the feelings that he feel about his disability. As a duty of the nurse, he or she should boost up the client’s self-worth so that he is aware of the life that was given to him. That he should be strong enough for himself because having one can help for his health development. The nurse should emphasize that having a positive outlook in life will bring a positive effect to his well-being. And having a healthy life means that there is a chance that he can go back to what he was doing before and he can now interact to the people outside the four corner of his room.

Case Number 3 Overview

Mrs. P is a 35-year-old single mother with two school age children. Mrs. P suffered multiple facial injuries as a result of motor vehicle accident 5 months ago. The injuries have healed without complications but it left her with some scarring in the face.

You as the student nurse, used your observational skills, intuition, measurements, and interviewing skills to collect data. You also involved Mrs. P in the assessment to verify your own perceptions. You have verified that she has generally adapted well following the accident, with the exception of her view of herself. You observed that some of her behaviors are ineffective in relation to adjusting to her present situation. In your interview with her, she verbalized, "I hate social gatherings, as much as possible I avoid attending parties, meetings or any activity that involves mingling with other people. After the accident I develop this habit of wearing dark glasses and big hats whenever I go out. I even go to the extent of wearing heavy make up just to cover these scars on my face. I don't like it when people stare at me." As much as possible she avoids crowded places.

Next, you and Mrs. P had set some goals to help her adjust and help her accept herself again. You, in collaboration with Mrs. P., choose interventions based on current best practices which includes either changing stimuli or strengthening Mrs. P's adaptive processes. Evaluation focused on judging the effectiveness of the nursing interventions in relation to Mrs. P's behaviors. In addition, other nursing problems that were uncovered during the assessment, were also addressed simultaneously using the process described and incorporating best practices to provide appropriate nursing care.

The Theorist and the Theory applied

Mrs. P experienced a stimuli that results to an ineffective response due to not coping up fully from the accident that she had five months ago. She cannot adjust and accept herself again because of the big scar that left to her face. In order to solve this problem, an intervention was done to change the stimuli and strengthen Mrs. P’s self-esteem which is effective because the adaptation was occurred and other problems that weren’t uncovered are now being addressed. This case specifically used Sister Callista Roy’s Adaptation Model because it clearly states that the person experience an environmental stimuli and the nurse act to achieve the goal of treating it by assisting the adaptation and managing the environment to have the optimal level of wellness of the person.

Process on how the theory is utilized

The theory was being utilized in this case when the student nurse performs Roy’s six-step nursing practice. First, is when the student nurse assessed Mrs. P’s behavior stating that Mrs. P’s adapted well after the accident but not the view of herself. Second, when the student nurse assessed the stimuli of the behaviors of Mrs. P and categorize it as focal (the scar on the face), contextual (having a low self-esteem), and residual (the attitude toward herself because the scar on her face is a shame for her). Third, when the student nurse makes a nursing diagnosis of the client’s adaptive state. The student nurse recognize the cause of the problem because he or she used his or her observational skills, intuition, measurements, and interviewing skills to collect data. And also by involving Mrs. P in the assessment to verify his or her own perceptions. Fourth, when the student nurse set goals to promote Mrs. P adaptations. Fifth, is when the student nurse implemented an intervention and that is to change the stimuli and strengthen Mrs. P's adaptive processes. And lastly, is when the student nurse evaluated the effectivity of the nursing intervention made by relating Mrs. P’s behaviors when the stimuli was being manipulated.

Describe how interrelatedness is applied

There are two interrelated subsystems in Roy’s model. First is the primary, functional, or control processes subsystem, this is an internal processes that consists of regulator and cognator. The regulator is the bodies' attempt to adapt by responding automatically through neural, chemical, endocrine coping processes and the cognator is our mental coping mechanism that responds through the four cognitive-emotive channels which are the perceptual information processing, learning, judgement, and emotion. And the second subsystem is the secondary or effector, this is the external expressions of the internal process that consists of adaptive modes which are the physiological function, self-concept, role function, and interdependence. The physiological function is how the person interact with the environment through physiological process to meet the basic needs. In this case, the physiological function is when Mrs. P protects herself in the society from being judged by other people. The self-concept is how the person acts in the society. Here, Mrs. P use dark glasses and big hats and wear heavy make-up just to cover the scar on her face. The role function describes how the person behaves toward another person. The role function in this case is when Mrs. P don’t mingle with other people by being aloof to them because she is not confident enough to interact with them. And interdependence is how the persons interacts to the people of the society. This mode wasn’t achieve by Mrs. P because she usually don’t attend gathering, parties, and meetings because she wants to avoid crowded places.

Heneral Luna is a heartwarming yet a strong movie that depicts the life of General Antonio Luna during the Philippine – American War. Antonio Luna was a Supreme Chief of the Army of the First Philippine Republic which was under the reign of President Emilio Aguinaldo. He was known for his great leadership skills because of the way he ruled the army even though many people are against him because they are irritated to his strong and fierce personality that he possess. He is the most intelligent in the Philippine military because of his one of a kind strategies that can fool his opponent. He is a kind of a leader that if there is a problem to his ways, he will not ask his subordinates to solve it for them, instead he will be the one who will find ways to solve the it because he is a man who lead with pure actions not a man who lead with so many commands. He is also a wise men because of his words of wisdoms that he often share to his subordinates just to boost their love for our country.

It is really true that people have different opinions and perspective in solving certain things and how they strongly justify that their opinions are more effective than the others. In this movie, there are two kinds of people that can be seen, a person who is a risk taker and a person who choose the easy way out. Here, a person who take risks is the one who truly show their devotion for the nation, an example of this is Antonio Luna and his men. They bravely risk their life buy fighting the American soldier until their bullets run out. Despite having a risk taker there will always a person who will choose an easy way out. These people are the one who only thinks for their own life and not considering others. An example of this is the businessman Felipe Buencamino who would rather choose to be an ally of the Americans because they think being with them means that their business will be safe because the Americans will not think ways that could bring down their business since they already earned their trust. It is a shame that these people still exist nowadays because they are being lead with the strong greed for money and power.

It is true that the American colonizer is not our biggest enemy but instead it is our co – Filipinos who have a strong ill desire for their own benefits. It is so ironic that most of our heroes didn’t died to the hands of the colonizer instead they actually died to hands of the people that they are protecting. These kind of people will do everything that they can so that no one will be able to block their wrong intentions even if it means to put the life of others to death. These people should not be look up to because they will bring no good to everyone instead they should be treated as a pest because they are a living cancer in society.

Sacrificing life is really dangerous especially that the opponents are known to be strong. But, I still don’t get it why some people, in the middle of the fight, are choosing to back down and continually move backward to escape the battlefield. For me this kind this is an act of a coward person because they weren’t able to end the war with the good fight. They wouldn’t even finish what they have started and choose to retreat when they think that things are not going out well. It is saddening because they not only failed the people around them but they also failed themselves as a soldier who devotedly oath to the mother land to retrieve the Her from the colonizers and to turn things to its right places.

The movie gives us an idea how Filipino soldiers were killed brutally. Some of them were shot multiple times and others receive the bomb that makes their head blow off. It really showed how these soldier are accepting what life are putting to them. They know what will happen to them if they continue these and yet they choose to continue fighting because they know to themselves that after winning these big fight will result to a big change to the life of their co – Filipinos. We should honor them more especially that we already have an idea how their life ended which is an awful one and I know most of the people wouldn’t want it to be their death scenario.

Heneral Luna wasn’t able to receive the same recognition as the other heroes but thanks to this movie because many people will now be able to know that there are really many people who are willing to cry the pain and shed blood just to have the freedom that were deprived to us. I am really thankful that historical movies like this are being produced because it will not only make us to know what really happened in the past but will also make us appreciate the sacrifices that they made just for us to have a better future. These people is the key why we attained the liberty, so us, as a Filipino citizen, should not put to waste the things that they have done to us instead we should continually grow the love to our country because this is our home, our motherland that needs to be protected always and forever.
